Custom Tab Control

Just wondering if there is anyway to create custom tab controls in ASM.  I don't mind the regular tab control however, the one thing I don't like is the gray header bar at the top.  I would like that to atleast be a different color.  I have tried to set the style to transparent but that doesn't seem to work.  I have searched for tutorials on creating custom tab controls with not avail.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here's one with-out the gray bar and has some color in it to give you an idea of how to add to it.  I don't remember where I founded it at, but it was intended to be an example.  It should be easy.  Good luck
