well - there is your whole problem - lol
i use old versions of almost everything
if you update everytime someone comes out with a new version, you are going to be their beta site - lol
i find one that works - and stay with it til they come up with one that actually is better in some way
i am using t-bird version 2.0.0.16
firefox version 1.5.0.12 - love it - it has the old ad-block - not the new one - it is as fast as any of the new ones, if not faster

lol I find firefox 3 a lot better on CPU, Memory and for javascript heavy sites, plus 1.5 is such a huge security risk, theres a ton of exploits that'd let some lil script kiddie take control of your pc. :\

i have not experienced any problems with ff 1.5.0.12
nor have i seen any real improvements since then
3.0 is slightly faster - very slight
and - i have tried several 2.x and 3.x versions - i have spent countless hours evaluating them
as for security, i have never experienced any problems with that version - notice - it is the last of the 1.5's
IE is a lot less secure than any ff version

firefox version 1.5.0.12
adblock v.5 d3 * nightly 43
favicon picker 2 version 0.4.2.0
sun java 1.5.0 revision 16, build 2

that combo works without a hitch, and is quite fast
i should mention that i have a 600k+ HOSTS file with DNS disabled
