IMHO this is a feasible solution to the health care crisis in the USA.
*Subject:* New Health Care Plan
*The Perfect Solution to Senior Health Care*
*While discussing the upcoming Universal Health Care Program with
my friend the other day, I think we have found the solution. I am
sure you have heard the ideas that if you 're a senior you need to
suck it up and give up the idea that you need any health care. A
new hip? Unheard of. We simply can't afford to take care of you
anymore. You don't need any medications for your high blood
pressure, diabetes, heart problems, etc. Let's take care of the
young people. After all, they will be ruling the world very soon.
So here is the solution. When you turn 70, you get a gun and 4
bullets. You are allowed to shoot 2 senators and 2 representatives.
Of course, you will be sent to prison where you will get 3 meals a
day, a roof over your head and all the health care you need! New
teeth, great! Need glasses, no problem. New hip, knee, kidney,
lung, heart? Well bring it on. And who will be paying for all of
this. The same government that just told you that you are too old
for health care. And, since you are a prisoner, you don't have to
pay any income tax.*
P.S. If we all do our part we can end up in the same prison and
have one hell of a social life.
i think it's a great plan
although, i might lean toward giving them the entire box of ammo
i like fast solutions
on the other hand, we could give the guns and ammo to the congressmen, make them shoot a terrorist and go to prison
then, we severely cut back spending on prison health-care and use the money to fund medi-care
result on a per-bullet basis:
1 dead terrorist
1 congressman behind bars, where they belong, with no teeth and no retirement plan
between the money saved on prison health-care and the congressional retirement bennies, medi-care would thrive
with no teeth, we would also save on prison food, as it could simply be pourage
heh, your clever, and touched on alot of things in a unexpected way :) nj sir :U

Jack, you and I may not always agree but you are right on the mark with this one. Thing is I'm not sure I'll make it to 70. Maybe I'll go buy a gun now, thats easy enough to do here in the states, and go shot me some politicians so I can benefit now instead of waiting 12 more years. :wink
Yes Dedndave, those are a few good points. Certainly can't do any harm.
What I find especially disgusting is one like Dodd, Who is a known crook and remains in office and will collect a pension for it.
I guess one can't rat on another as they all probably have skeletons in the closet. What a deplorable situation.

It is interesting to point out that Dodd declared that he has prostate cancer today and it was detected early because he gets yearly exams. Sad that those who do not have heath care in this country some 50 million would find out to late and die of the disease unlike Dodd who has perhaps the best health care coverage money can buy paid for by the tax payer.
Hi Cycle Saddles,
Yes it is sad for those that don't have insurance.
But on the other hand do we really want a socialistic health care program?
Politics as I see it is "who gets what, when and how.
As I see it going, the health benefits which I have worked for will now be reduced or taken away from me, which could be a death sentence.
I totally disagree with giving Illegal aliens government supported health care benefits.
I have a Canadian friend that tells of having to wait to get a necessary test. And the wait could spell a death sentence for the individual.
We certainly don't want a system like that in this country.
Yes I do want a socialistic health care program. What about the waitresses and single moms, the dishwashers, the self employed carpenters and handymen, the guy who cleans your pool, mechanics, plumbers, painters and tradesmen of all kinds, with kids to raise and mortgages and just barely scraping by. Many are getting foreclosed on, many can't even pay their bills. A half million jobs each month are disappearing and with them goes the insurance if there was any to begin with. Some 14 thousand people a day are losing their health care.
Truth-O-Meter Link Page. (http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2009/jul/24/barack-obama/obama-claims-14000-lose-health-insurance-every-day)
The fact is a huge number of people do not have insurance, but another huge number do have insurance and still get tossed on the dung heap when they get too sick or file a claim and are denied because of insurance policy changes or some cooked up accusation of a pre-existing condition, and so on and so on.
By the way my understanding of Obama's health care reform, last I checked, specifically cuts illegals out completely. . .just so you're aware of that. I guess illegals could still go to the emergency room at the local hospital.
QuoteI have a Canadian friend that tells of having to wait to get a necessary test. And the wait could spell a death sentence for the individual.
I have several Canadian friends I have know for many years who would tell you that statement is simply bullshit.
Bill,
> Maybe I'll go buy a gun now
Nah, why waste expensive ammo when you can do it with a baseball bat and have heaps more fun, especially if you start at their toes and go uphill.
I hope you do end up with a properly government funded health system, we still have the remains of one here and if you are seriously ill you get done fast but if its elective you wait until there is enough room. Its about time those greedy bastards in "big pharma" got arseholed out the door for ripping ordinary people off so badly.
I just hope we all can beat this coming scam of the WHO enforcing innoculation of an untested vaccine for swine flu just so these greedy bastards can make another killing in vaccine sales. There is a risk that everyone who is forced to accept this vaccine will catch something even worse.
QuoteNah, why waste expensive ammo when you can do it with a baseball bat and have heaps more fun, especially if you start at their toes and go uphill.
Steve,
There are a handful of self-serving powerful special interest groups who are unraveling our economy and holding us hostage. They are the American Medical Association, the Americas Health Insurance Plans, the American Hospital Association and the Pharmaceutical Industry. These groups are the gatekeepers of our health care and spend HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS of dollars in advertising, lobbying and political contributions to keep their beds feathered and to keep the status quo.
In the movie "The Untouchables" Robert Deniro plays the part of Al Capone and he takes a baseball bat to one of his cronies head. I'd gleefully take a bat to each and every head in both the House and Senate that takes money from those bastards. They are all cockroaches and should be exterminated!!
i think you left out the bankers, lawyers, and oil companies
well - big businessmen, in general
i suppose you managed to get a few lawyers by using the term "lobbyist" - lol
Bill,
I am just old enough to have seen the footage of Joe McArthy in the 50s and its something like this that is needed in much the same way as Hank Paulson has been grilled lately. The US is at a critical time at the moment due to the rape and pillage of the economy where it can actually fix many of the major distortions that have accumulated over time, the FED, "big pahrma" and the like that are ripping Americans off to the tune of billions.
It is still farcical that you have an online pharmacy industry in Canada selling drugs to Americans at far lower prices than the going US price and which are still a lot higher than the international price of the same drugs. I think its reasonable that ordinary Americans and especially the poorer ones should be able to buy their necessary drugs at the same price as people in the rest of the world, this would drop the cost of health care by some massive amount.
It will take a lot of guts to fight these big interests but times are hard and many people are suffering because of what they have been able to get away with for years so it just might happen.
If the US can get rid of this fascist style of relationship between big business and government and return to a free enterprise economy where competition sorts out the good from the bad, I will see America the great again in my lifetime.

I hope so too! :U
I'm not saying our present health care situation could not be improved upon but to let the government get control of our health care is down right scary. IMHO anything that the government gets their hands on is a disaster. All of Congress should be on this HC package and NOT the one they have. Do your think they will vote to change their insurance to this one??
I will give my farewells to you all now and hope you fare better than all of us senior citizens which this HC bill is a government controlled DEATH sentence for the lot of us. It's nice to have an accountant decide when I die. Way to go Mr Obama.... May you live long and prosper!!!
If you haven't read the HC bill before Congress here is the web site of a PDF file of the bill:
http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov111_cong_bills&docid=f:h3200ih.pdf
Welcome all to our new Socialistic America.
Oh by the way aliens get free HC
Jack,
Our old timers get free health care based on the urgency of the problem, if its an emergency they get done fast, if its elective without being urgent there is a delay depending on workload and if they have enough money they can buy private health care. It means you don't have to sell your house to get medical assistance if you are ill.
Just remove all of the government scams propping up the current health care system and all of this extra money not being ripped out of the system becomes available and you don't have to pay the highest proces in the world for medications.
Its basically a 2 level system, the large public one done at minimum cost and the expensive one for rich people.
Hi Hutch,
God I hope your are right. I'm scared to death. I'm well aware of all the misinformation being propagated.
I don't trust the foreigner in office and don't like what I see. Not that the Republicans are any better.
Put the entire Congress on this HC bill and see how fast they would change it. Their our servants and why should they
have anything different than the rest of us. I won't hold my breath until it happens.
These illegal aliens need to be sent back to where they came from and not be given free HC.
I don't believe our Congress has enough smarts to come up with a workable HC bill. IMHO everything I have seen coming out of Washington in the last couple of decades has been designed to bring this country to its knees.
.
Jack,
If it dawns on some of them that the country IS on its knees, then just maybe they will change the health care system to make it work. I have no so far minded what I have seen with Obama, the last US president I liked was John Kennedy and IKE before him and its been pretty purile inbetween. Think what the alternative was, poor old John McCain and Sarah Dumbcluck and you would probably be in civil war by now. No amount of moose stew would have solved that problem.
If everything was going well you would never get any change but as a lot of people are in deep sh*t with money, health, housing, employment and the like, it just might happen. You can expect the losers who PHUKED the US economy to try for a comback so they can do it again but I don't like their chances at the moment. It will only take the unhinging of a few of the big parasites and the money equation will change enough to fix the economic problems, big oil, big pharma, the military/industrial complex and so on and the US will fly again.
We both may see it yet Jack. :U
i liked Jimmy Carter a little - at least his head was in the right place, even though he was ineffectual to getting anything done
but, the last president i really liked was Lincoln
before that, Ben Franklin might have made a good president
but, i think he was too smart - you could have never talked him into taking the job

My comment about aliens was about people coming into this country illegally. NOT anything else.
That should be stopped and they should be sent back to where they came from.
If it's good enough for us it's good enough for CONGRESS.
well, i agree - congressmen and senators should be sent back where they came from

what part of England is your family from, Hutch ?
Dave,
A marriage certificate dated 1838 from Elm Canbridgeshire, family show up in 1941 census as husband, wife and first son. 1851 census has a widow with 3 sons. Mother died of cholera in 1854 in Wisbech Cambridgeshire. Her father brought the three orphans to Australia in late 1854 from Liverpool, landed in Melbourne in early 1855 from a sailing ship called the Almora.
My mother and fathers American ancestry began back in the med 1700's. Most came to the northeast to work the coal mines. Over those many years there has been plenty of mixing. I like to refer to my ancestry as Heinz 57, a blend of many good flavors. . .:lol

The Myth Of Rationed Health Care (http://progressnotcongress.org/?p=2445)
All this chatter solves nothing and Congress in their infinite treachery will do what they please. They have done so for the last 30 years or so
and now we see the condition of our country. Deep in debt, with a Congress that cares only about their privileged pension and elite Health care,
soon to be socialized, passing garbage like NAFTA and GAT and all the other free trade crap that has lost millions of jobs and devastated entire towns throughout the country. Is a Dictatorship Next?

Jack you really need to get a grip on yourself buddy, you are simply over reacting. There is no stopping it now, Healthcare reform is coming. Quit listening to the bullshit coming out of the mouths of Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilly and all those gun-toting loonytune wackos from the right. I'm heading towards 59 and feel like a kid (well kind of) in less then seven more years I'll turn 65 and since we will all have universal health care and Medicare here in the states I have nothing to worry about except for maybe wrecking my motorcycle. :bg

they want you to see how many others they have sucked into believing them - lol

Back on Uncle Sam's plantation
Star Parker - Syndicated Columnist
Six years ago I wrote a book called Uncle Sam's Plantation.
I wrote the book to tell my own story of what I saw living inside the welfare
state and my own transformation out of it. I said in that book that indeed there
are two Americas -- a poor America on socialism and a wealthy America on
capitalism.
I talked about government programs like Temporary Assistance for
Needy Families (TANF), Job Opportunities and Basic Skills Training(JOBS),
Emergency Assistance to Needy Families with Children (EANF), Section 8
Housing, and Food Stamps.
A vast sea of perhaps well-intentioned government programs, all initially
set into motion in the 1960s, that were going to lift the nation's poor out of
poverty.
A benevolent Uncle Sam welcomed mostly poor black Americans onto
the government plantation. Those who accepted the invitation switched mind-
sets from "How do I take care of myself?" to "What do I have to do to stay on
the plantation?"
Instead of solving economic problems, government welfare socialism
created monstrous moral and spiritual problems -- the kind of problems that
are inevitable when individuals turn responsibility for their lives over to
others.
The legacy of American socialism is our blighted inner cities, dysfunc-
tional inner city schools, and broken black families.
Through God's grace, I found my way out. It was then that I understood
what freedom meant and how great this country is.
I had the privilege of working on welfare reform in 1996, passed by
a Republican Congress and signed 50 percent.
I thought we were on the road to moving socialism out of our poor
black communities and replacing it with wealth-producing American
capitalism.
But, incredibly, we are going in the opposite direction.
Instead of poor America on socialism becoming more like rich
American on capitalism, rich America on capitalism is becoming like
poor America on socialism.
Uncle Sam has welcomed our banks onto the plantation and they have
said, "Thank you, Suh." Now, instead of thinking about what creative
things need to be done to serve customers, they are thinking about what they
have to tell Massah in order to get their cash.
There is some kind of irony that this is all happening under our first
black president on the 200th anniversary of the birthday of Abraham Lincoln.
Worse, socialism seems to be the element of our new young president.
And maybe even more troubling, our corporate executives seem happy to
move onto the plantation.
In an op-ed on the opinion page of the Washington Post, Mr. Obama
is clear that the goal of his trillion dollar spending plan is much more than
short term economic stimulus.
"This plan is more than a prescription for short-term spending -- it's a
strategy for America 's long-term growth and opportunity in areas such as
renewable energy, healthcare, and education."
Perhaps more incredibly, Obama seems to think that government taking
over an economy is a new idea. Or that massive growth in government
can take place "with unprecedented transparency and accountability."
Yes, sir, we heard it from Jimmy Carter when he created the De-
partment of Energy, the SynfuelsCorporation, and the Department of
Education.
Or how about the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 -- The War
on Poverty -- which President Johnson said "...does not merely expand
old programs or improve what is already being done. It charts a new
course. It strikes at the causes, not just the consequences of poverty."
Trillions of dollars later, black poverty is the same. But black
families are not, with triple the incidence of single-parent homes and
out-of-wedlock births.
It's not complicated. Americans can accept Barack Obama's in-
vitation to move onto the plantation. Or they can choose personal re-
sponsibility and freedom.
Does anyone really need to think about what the choice should be?
"The trouble with socialism is that you eventually run out of other
people's money."
that's all ? seriously it's ridiculous :
1. making the parallel with attempts that didn't work before is not only anachronous, but pityful... if you know a country that never made politic mistake... name it.
2. it's full of non sens... :
> resolving economics problems ?
he he, is it a joke ? the current situation IS the result of capitalism (not socialism), who give to others country the jobs that should be done by the americans ? just because it's cheaper...
> the monstrous moral and spiritual problems ?
i suppose it's not monstrous to let the bankers doing what they did, and will continue to do...
> the kind of problems that are inevitable when individuals turn responsibility for their lives over to others ?
yeah sure, and the problems generated by capitalism that consist of exploited the others, just to make money, and let the problems (the cost to the others people..., yeah, for this the others we don't care, i suppose...)
> The trouble with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money ?
wow... just wow... i was sure that was the result of capitalism that the people loose their home (and all the money they've paid for, before), how i could be wrong like that ? seriously, who play with the money of the others ???
> This plan is more than a prescription for short-term spending -- it's a strategy for America 's long-term growth and opportunity in areas such as renewable energy, healthcare, and education
so what ? is it not the purpose of politic to provide valid solutions in long term ? or maybe you think that the situation is fine and you shouldn't change anything ?
3. where are the propositions ? just critics ? yeah, so easy... and if there is no propositions, it's because there is not enough money, and if there is not enough money, it's because the capitalism system have failed (and for a more longer period than you imagine,... you have made a wrong choice to let others people producing your goods, just because it was cheaper... money Escape from your country, slowly but irremediably... ).
anyway, without propositions, and since you CAN'T continue like that without SERIOUS problems for a large portion of people, how can someone be opposed to this plan ?

::) failure of ethics, dicted by the need to be ALWAYS more productive, to ALWAYS obtain quick gain, etc..., so CAPITALISM ! you can hide yourself behind others principle if you want, but the facts are the facts...
There is a bit of confusion here in the use of terms, Capitalism != Fascism. Fascism is generally the combination of BIG business and Government in bed together greasing each others palms where Capitalism is competition based on profit. It is when Fascism masquerades as Capitalism that you get the problems that have been around in the last 15 years or so.
The role of government comes into play to set the rules for an economy so that it works in the long haul but short term grubby grabs for a quick buck have a long history of getting in the way to the detriment of an economy in the longer haul.
Its "slash and burn" at an economic level for those in a position to get away with it until they are arseh*led out the door but by then its too late, they have already raped and pillaged the entire economy and taken the proceeds elsewhere. One can but wonder why Haliburton and a few others are now set up in Dubai AFTER they ripped off US taxpayers to the tune of billions.
Its a sign of age that i confess to being a free enterprise lasseiz faire capitalist, BIG CROOKED business does not want competition, they lever polititians they have bought to change the rules for them so they have a monopoly and don't have to perform. If there is one thing that marks the decline and fall of the general western economies its the collapse of competition and the ever reducing performance of the corporate sector.
