MASM32 licence

Exclusion of open source projects and software.
The MASM32 project cannot be used to create open source software or any other project under any form of licence that requires the user of the MASM32 project to surrender the rights they are afforded under the MASM32 licence. In particular the MASM32 licence completely excludes projects licenced under the GNU organisation's published GPL licence and/or variants.

What does that mean?


And what exactly is from Microsoft, what from hutch and what is open source in the MASM32 Package?

Noob,

Nothing is open source in the masm32 project. It has been designed from its origin to be available to anyone who wanted to use it at no cost, no royalties and no forced credits to anyone or anything. Anything you write with the project is your personal property to do with as you wish including SELLING IT FOR MONEY.

The licence follows from the terms and conditions of the Microsoft Corporation that made these binaries available over 10 years ago for assembler programmers around the world. Open source of various flavours imposes its licencing conditions on users of its software that seriously restricts the rights of the programmer where with the MASM32 Project supplies code, libraies and examples that you DON'T have to publish or give credit for using.
