AT&Ts security package

I have a friend that got the security package from AT&T along with his new DSL package.
I tried to talk him into the "Smart Security" package from ESET.

I've been doing some research on the AT&Ts security package and can find nothing
about the programs it contains. It seems to be from a company called "Protection One"
which is a company that installs home security systems. What's that got to do with
computer security?
The total lack of what's in the AT&T package makes me very leary of the security
quality of the package.
