BIOS writing

Hi,

I am new on this forum and new to assembly as well. I want to know what should I know If I am interested in writing some BIOS routines for INtel based machines. I mean some Firm ware stuff. 

I am familiar with assembly language and progarmming using assembly.

But I am not sure, How to begin with BIOS writing, I mean what steps shoud I take to start learning firmware.

Any suggestion or Coments.
