There is no respect to programmer in here. I was hired to be a programmer for handling the data of my campus. The name is ***********, I was graduated from there. The promise me to paid 300 USD if the job is finished. Not just they did not paid me, they want me to do this and that and they only PROMISE me to pay 30 Bucks. No way, at Least I want the payment 300 USD. What do you think should I do?

Go away from there and just forget it? Or sue them away?

It was so annoying how they did not respecy what Im doing, not because the payment.

Hi Onan,

I am very sorry to hear about your case. Do you have an offical document like a contract?

Just having a contract under Adat law doesn't mean much unless you know the region it was negotiated and signed in, or in some cases such as the University, what law applies to the particular institution. One of the big misconceptions about contracts under Adat law is that two contracts which are identical will be equally enforceable if they are negotiated in different regions of the country. In reality there are so many loopholes and pitfalls in the system that most western businesses require that Adat law does not apply to any agreements and that they are not signed or endorsed within the borders of Indonesia.

Not having a contract cuts both ways; just insert a random delay inside several of the critical loops that increases with each passing week.  It will be tough to prove that wasn't the proposed design without a contract.  In a year, they will wish they had paid more than $30, at which point you can offer to fix it for $3000.

When asked to do a contract job, I always put a 'timebomb' into the code.  :wink
It's called payment insurance  :bg

I've only ever done 2 contract programs, in both cases the payment and source code were held in escrow and paid out based on performance benchmarks that were well defined before I began. But in my case I was not really interested in doing the programming and quoted a price I was sure would be refused. To my surprise they accepted and I attached rather onerous conditions in order to have me waste my time on them. Its a lot easier when your livelihood doesn't depend in any way on programming or securing a contract to put yourself into the drivers seat and negotiate a contract in your favor. As for sabotaging software I am not sure that about the legalities of doing that, not something I ever had to deal with.

Hi, yeah I finally I can patch it up, somebody disable my website so I cannot access my software. I did remove the export function, so their data cannot be exported anywhere just imported it.

Hi Onan,

I am sure you will do your best. Never give up Onan. If it's possible, try to get support from a lawyer for your future contracts.

My best wishes for you my friend.
