We can format them as ntfs or fatx but how does e.g. a telstra usb wireless modem install its drivers from a 'CD' drive (which is on the usb dongle)?
If I open the drive with the correct access and write a CD iso image to it, will windows pick it up as a CD (read only)? I am too lazy to write some test code :bg and all the error handlers.

I dont get what you want. But if you want your CD is able to be "writeable" you could search about multisession.

i get what he wants - i have had occassion to want to do the same, myself
although, i was thinking of doing it with a regular hard drive
it would be nice to test a bootable ISO before wasting a CD
i almost got there too - lol - but i lost interest because i wanted to write code for a while instead of play with boot CDs
i bet the guys at the MSFN forum know how to do it   :U

Hi,

I have seen both "Installable File Systems" to treat an
ISO image as a CD, and game cheats/mods that use a
hard disk file to emulate a CD.  So I know it has been
done.  But, I never did do it myself (successfully).  I own
a USB stick that came with a "software suite" (or whatever)
that is seen as a CD/DVD drive by windows.  Another
reason to hate autorun as far as I can see.

I guess CD or DVD is going to be outdated. We had a Flash Disk and SD card with a 4 GB space for only 9 USD.
I bet all of you from USA could buy it a pack each week.
