Show A Hint:
------------
Insert the correct character into the Cell that currently has the Focus. The Cell must be empty or an error message will be displayed. Before this happens, the Puzzle is checked for errors. If there are errors, a report on the first error is made and a Hint is NOT shown.

I consider the program complete except for the addition of the DLL with the 20,000 Puzzles.

Hi,

Looks good.  I tried to install to F: and it ended up on C:.
Will have to check things out a bit, but I think I will probably
stay with my own program.  (Completely different idea, makes
paper puzzles.)  I see your comment about bifocals unfortunately
makes sense,

Congrats,

Thanks for the bug report. I make a lot of mistakes, these days. In this case, if you make the change in the edit box instead of browsing using the window above, it will never see the change you made. I thought I was reading that edit box as the final choice. I will fix it. For now, you can browse to F: in the window above and it will install correctly and the shortcuts will be correct.

Thanx,
Paul

PS: The program makes worksheets, you can create blank worksheets, ones showing a starting puzzle or one showing the current state of the puzzle. Perhaps you missed that?

Hi,

Yes that's what I tried to install to F:.

I did see the reference to worksheets, but did not
try it out.  I wanted to post quickly before I forgot
about it.  I will poke at it some more.  Except for
the bug, the install looked good.  The game seems
to work as advertised.

Thanks,

Steve N.

I am working on the bug right now. It is really a simple fix. I am restructuring the Installer Utility so it can be used to install any program and can become a simple thing for everyone to use to distribute their work. I will be done with that today or tomorrow and will post it in its own topic at that time. Of course, it will become a part of the GeneSys arsenal but can be used and assembled using any SDK of your choosing.

Nice GUI design Paul  :thumbu The Help section is very good.

The installer has been fixed so that the destination for the install can be typed as well as browsing.

New Upload at the top. This is just another update to reflect the addition of the Solver. Just to be consistent...

I am working on the HINT option right now. After that, I think I am done unless someone has a brainstorm. I will, at that point add the DLL with the 20,000 puzzles and call it complete. I think I will continue to keep the 5,000 Puzzles that are internal. I will write code that will look for and load the DLL. If that succeeds, I will source the Puzzles from there otherwise I will use internal sourcing. That way, no matter what happens, the game will be playable.

Down the road, I M-A-Y add a user generated repository for puzzles. Someone in the club wants me to add an option that allows a user to crank in a puzzle and use the game to solve it (or at least test it).

I am having fun, the best thing about it all, I guess.

Thank you for the reply. Of course, you are pressing (for instance) and holding down the Control Key while pressing N (for a New Game)?

The Control Key must be held down until you let go of the N key.
