Hi

I'm new to this and not very good at error commands.

Can anyone tell me how to get over this problem?  When I console asemble and link i get this message;

'\masm32\bin\ml' is not reconised as an internal or external command, operbal program or batch file

I am running Windows Vista Business, and the files have been assembleing until now; if this helps i've just had an updated from my antivirus software AGV.

Any help would be much appreciated.  ::)

sammie1985,

The AVG scan is probably your problem.  On my system it returned:

C:\masm32\bin\ml.exe     Trojan horse PSW.Ldpinch.RXK
C:\masm32\bin\link.exe    Trojan horse PSW.Ldpinch.RXJ

Also for the flatassembler:

C:\Program Files\Fasm\fasmw.exe   Virus identified Obfustat.ABZE

Also for Microsoft SDK:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDK\Bin\RC.exe   Trojan horse PSW.Ldpinch.RXL

You'll probably have to retrieve the files you need from the Virus Vault

It is a GOOD day to code!
Some assembly required!

Thanks Farrier

I retrieved the files from the virus fault, which got rid of that message.
But now i'm getting

access is denied

I take it this is again because of AGV as i get a threat detected!  Will try and turn that off.... wish me luck.

A Ha

I found it.
If anyone else is having problems you need to open AGV and go in Conrol Centre then turn off the Resident Shield.
I'll think ill turn it back on once i've ran my code.

Cheers

Thanks Farrier and Sammie1985
I've wasted a couple of hours trying to track this problem down - even tried loading MASM32v9 (wouldn't install, with similar errors).
Been racking my brains trying to recall what programs I've loaded lately that would cause that indirectly ( and have uninstalled some). Didn't even think it could be AVG - have had such a good run from it. I was concluding it must be a recent MS Update - then thought if that's the case someone else on the forum must be getting the same problem... and here you are.
I've got a paid version of AVG, so I'll send them a note.

Thank you very much Howard. :U
