With the advances in SPAM control, doing a roll your own SMTP engine is getting almost pointless.

But to test your concept, try an intermediate solution like BLAT or SendEmail(stand alone CLI email client) for now.

BLAT does not work with some major email services because of the SPAM control features of today, but you are welcomed to try.

I am curious, as to what you are trying to accomplish with the email engine in your code ???

I would seek counsel, before being sued because of it.   Believe me, they will take your money, if they can.

All he asked was the ability to send email..
RHL - google 'SMTP' and 'POP3' RFCs (Request For Comments)... You'll get all the info there, and it's free 'without restrictions'  :wink

AV scanning will flag the SMTP code as a virus, then he will be sued for release of information.  And who's email address will they find in the code ???

End of Story.  I was just trying to save him some grief.

hutch can share quite a few stories of false positives.

Duh, I work in the Security Field.

Maybe they(lawyers) would hire me to do the forensics on his software.
