Being a Rugby League man myself, what the Wobblies do does not bother me much. I played both at high school but hated Union, too many people on the field and playing Union was more like wrestling than football. At least in League you could run.

The general inference with Union in Sydney is its a passtime for old private school fairies to have a cuddle up on the football field.  :bg

I've never followed rugby (union), or cricket or soccer - As I told my rugby mad father-in-law.. " I have a life and cannot sit there 'screaming' at a bunch of girls fondling each other on TV" - You should have seen his face  :bg. I'll watch sport that's my kids play, and a bit of surfing when it's on.

This only came  to my attention, because my mother-in-law's Irish and she was gloating about this result.
I always found Aussie rugby league wierd, 'sheep shaggers in tights' (Sorry couldn't help that  :green2), not to mention those guys running around the edge of the field in their lab jackets.... wierd!. I suppose it depends on what you grew up with.

We had this Aussie post doc student doing some work with us, We were 'pulling each others legs' one day, and I remarked that the sheep were lovely in Oz... she then complained bitterly and said it's not us, it's the New Zealanders. I laughed. She had a sense of humor that girl.

She is right though, ever KIWI male has many girlfriends. (Baaaaaaaaaaaaaa). Ours used to produce wool (Merino) but some idiot sold them to competitors and now no-one buys it.
