Freeware .doc to .pdf converter

Anyone know of a good freeware .doc to .pdf converter for Windows ? Can't seem to find one on the internet ( seems like there should be one out there somewhere! ). Thanks for any information!

I'm using CutePDF Writer. Installer wants to install some crap, but beside that it works fine.
I guess you could convert it manually without the intermediate program( CutePDF Writer) by doing doc -> ps -> pdf conversion.

Hi,

   I tend to use GhostScript and GSView to create PDF's.  Print
to file using a PostScript printer definition.

Thanks for the information! I downloaded gswin32.exe and have been looking over and running some postscript commands ( I unfortunately have no idea how to program postscript yet  :( ). What type of postscript script would be used to load a .doc file , convert it to a pdf ? Thanks for any information!

Ok , I figured it out ( I used cutePdf to create a .prn file and gsview to convert the file to a .pdf ). Thanks for the help! :U

I have also used GhostScript and GSView to create PDF's I prefer Doc files to PDF, but it is VERY hard to find a free PDF to doc converter ,and even harder to find a free open source one. For a commercial solution try ABC Amber(link below) they seem to have just about any combo you might need.(some of the conversion progs are also free)

After eliminating those PDF Writers suggested by readers that were not free, were limited time trials, and basically adware (the product was free but forced the user to endure various ads as a punishment for using it), there were only six candidates left.  These were (alphabetically) Bullzip PDF Writer, CutePDF, doPDF, PDFCreator, PrimoPDF, and TinyPDF.  Which one of these is best?

I use PrimoPDF - relatively simple and lightweight.

I've been messing with ghostscript making little pictures and such since I downloaded it to create a .pdf file ( kind of fun  :bg ). Is there such a thing as a gui drawing editor in which one can draw a design ( kind of like Ms paint ) and generate postscript code for the drawing?  Just curious.......

Hi,

   I have used an old version of Maura Draw.  Or maybe its
predecessor.  Anyhow it could make drawings or text charts.
It was a while ago.  I now just use GSView and a text editor
for simple stuff.  Old versions of Adobe Illustrator saved its
output as a PostScript file, but that was long ago also.
