shut down the PC

I found a way to shut down the PC in the following link:

it successful to shut down my PC. Is that code true or false?
But if I use WinXP. Before I shut down the PC, WinXP always show "Please close all running application before do shut down" if I use InternetExplorer or other applications.

I want to modify the code in that link.
So, I can do like WinXP.
