I just joined and I'm posting an introduction as per the how to succesfully join instructions.  I promise I'm a real person, although some of my friends occassionally wonder. :)

I'm a long retired programmer.  I don't even remember what year I retired but it was at least 10 or 15 years ago.  I've done very little programming since until the past year where I've played a little with Power Basic.  I don't plan to do any serious programming again but I'm starting to enjoy playing around with it.

I worked as a programmer from the late '60s till the mid '90s when I had to retire for health reasons.  Most of my work was in systems level programming and some was on applications.   I worked in COBOL, C, Basic and ASM.  Probably 20% of what I did was in ASM.

I've forgotten a lot and I'm rusty and at my age relearning is very slow and since I'm retired I don't really care that much.  I no longer have to be useful or productive.  But it's still fun to push myself a little now and then.

Anyway, hi.
Barry

Hi Barry,

Welcome on board. I still use PB for simple tasks myself but you will find modern MASM a lot of fun and very powerful once you get the swing of it and the Windows API functions (all 12000 of them).

Now what you may have to watch is once you get a feel for MASM its addictive so you may end up sitting up late at night writing an ever increasing amount of code.
