The previous version of K-Meleon worked fine with Sandboxie.
Not so with V 1.5.1.   K-Meleon V. 1.5.1 works fine without Sandboxie.
Lots of complaints on the K-Meleon forum about this and I guess they
are working on it. This is just for information purposes.

hutch--

i have just installed 151 and it seems to work fine but I have not tried it with a sandbox.

I think the problem was caused by K-Meleon and not Sandboxie.

What would happen to my Bookmarks if I installed a prior version of
K-Meleon over V. 1.5.1?? If that is indeed possible.
If I unistall K-meleon and then reinstall a prior V. of K-Meleon
then I will lose my bookmarks ? Right?

I think so. The bookmarks are saved in a .html file though... you could make a backup copy of that file, just in case.

You can find this file under the Edit-->Configuration-->Profile Directory option. Look for "Bookmarks" or "Bookmarks.html". You should be able to double-click on this file, and a browser window open with a text version of all your bookmarks in it. If so, then this is the correct bookmarks file. Copy that somewhere for safe-keeping, then reinstall the older k-meleon, and copy the bookmarks file back.

Thanks for the replies.
Will try to save the bookmarks and reinstall an older version.

From what I'm seeing on other boards KM might be awhile in
fixing this problem. In fact it might in the next release.

I think the bookmarks for K-Meleon are found here in Vista
    Users
      Jack(or whatever)
       appdata
        roaming
         K-Meleon
          default
           8ik9qnl5.slt

Have no idea where they are on XP

It's a good idea to save your bookmarks but they will probably still be there once you uninstall/reinstall.  KMeleon is, to some degree, Firefox and that's what FF does.

Thank you all for being kind enough to give some input.

I've finally managed to go from KM 1.5.1 to KM 1.5.0 and the bookmarks
are intact. But it is not straight forward as it should be.
Here is what happened:
First thing I made a folder under C:\ called KMBM and moved
all the files from users,jack,appdata,roaming,k-meleon,default,8ik9qnl5.slt
to it. Uninstalled KM 1.5.1. Installed KM 1.5.0. Then moved the files from
c:\KMBM to users,jack,appdata,roaming,k-meleon,default,8ik9qnl5.slt. Then
when I executed KM 1.5.0 it did not pull up the correct bookmarks.
I then uninstalled KM 1.5.0 and reinstalled it. Changed the netscape address
to point to c:\KMBM and then I was able to reference my original bookmarks.
This I do not like because there is no set place in KM to put the bookmarks
as far as I can tell.

You went too high up the tree.  You should only move the stuff under .default and not above that.

shankle

Thanks for replying Dr Fine.
The original bookmark location before I started messing around with this was as follows:
user, jack, appdata, roaming, k-meleon, default, 8ik9qnl5.slt.
I made a file under C:\kmbm and moved 8ik9qnl5.slt to it.
I think so far so good.
I think I then should have moved 8ik9qnl5.slt to
user, jack, appdata, roaming, k-meleon, default.
I must have put 8ik9qnl5.slt on the end of it in error.

Still having some problems with K-Meleon and the guys at KM either don't have the
answer or don't have the time. The reason I am changing a working set of KM
in each partition is because I am trying to keep current.
Running Vista Business in each partition.

My Puter is a Dual boot affair by Avanquest (System Commander).
So each partition is isolated. Meaning I have a version of KM in each partition.
Two Home pages , two sets of bookmarks and two Profiles etc.
The 2nd partition on my Puter is running KM 1.5.1 and Sandboxie fine.
In 1st partition I put on KM 1.5.1 but I can't get the home page I want to work.
The book mark button does not show. Guess I might have to go back to KM
1.1.5 in the 1st partition. It was working before I tried KM 1.5.1

the bookmark stuff didn't seem too reliable in kmeleon (but this is an older version am referring to) not dloaded an updated version in a while. I liked that browser though. I use sea-monkey mainly otherwise.. & the basic bookmark capability there is quite good, import/export bookmarks etc. - as others have suggested, just backing up the bookmarks file itself is a good idea.

there is a help chan for kmeleon i think on irc.mozilla.org

shankle

Hi Rainstorm,
Sea Monkey isn't setup for Vista yet.
Yesterday I lost my main partition because I was testing KM 1.5.1 and the new Sandboxie
that is supposed to accept KM.
I guess I'm going to have to install the bloated Firefox as it will be years before KM
gets their bookmarks straightened out IMHO.
