I know this is an Assembler forum but I thought with all the expertise
floating around here that someone might direct me to a site with a tutorial
on inclinometers.
I'm having problems aligning an 8' dish. No service men in my area so
novice me has to do the job. Or buy a $400 Birddog to use once.
Thanks for any suggestions.

shankle,

I still have a BUD (Big Ugly Dish) in my back yard in the country, and have had to reset the main support tube a few times.  The last time I did this, all the helpful markers had worn off--showing inclination and rotation.  After checking for plumb twice--90 degrees apart--and setting North with a compass and the North Star, I used an old high school protractor to set the primary inclination and rotation angles.  Worked pretty good.

This is the kind with a LED indicator right?

I bet you the local High School nerd can do it in no time.

Thanks guys for your replies.
I have a cheapy model with no light.
I think I have solved my problem. Satellite dish terminology
was the culprit. Their not the same all over the country.
So I dug out the Orbitron manual and reread it. Plus I
was subtracting from 180 degrees instead of 90 degrees.
Its been a hectic couple of days.
