Can you recover files deleted from a DOS Prompt in XP ?

Oh yeah, it's  network drive too.

Drive Rescue only works on the C: drive.

Thanks.

Muhahahahahahahahahahaha  :bdg It looks like you owe someone some muffins or something  :green2 (that's the punishment we inflict when someone deletes something they shouldn't - they have to bring muffins or cake into the office).

Files deleted over the network are not recoverable - they don't go to the recycle bin. But maybe P1 knows a way? Unless you have a backup of those files?

It's good practice to have network drives backed-up daily. But that's not to say they will be - it's much quicker when they're backed up on /dev/null

Sluggy is right.  The one redeeming thing about Novell's NOS was the ability to Save one's own rear end or a user's for that matter, when it came to deletes ( if caught soon enough ), and who did it!

Nothing replaces a good backup policy.

Now, I have read somewhere a good recovery lab can do it, but the other question is, how much is it worth?

As far as personel procedures go, use the Captain Kirk method, never go in without having a way out!

Accidents happen when you're are trying to improve the process. :-)
They should be bringing me muffins and a lot more for showing iniative.

I am pretty sure they have daily backups.

So, it sounds like an Achilles heal of sorts. :-)

Rip the physical drive the files resided on out of whatever machine it was in, plug it into a Windows box, and use some undelete utility or other.  If the disk space hasn't been reused, the data is still there.  Although if it's a frequently used drive, you can pretty much forget about it.

Their site says it doesn't work if files were deleted from the command line.

Using that info, I am whipping up a file shredder for NT as we type. :-)
