I upgraded my home system RAM from 512 Mb to 768 Mb that has an AMD 3000+ chip.

The speed difference was significant.

I upgraded my mother's computer from 256 Mb to 512 Mb with an AMD 850 Mhz chip.
The speed increase was nominal.

I think it was because the CPU is maxed out at close to 100 % much of the time.

I was able to use an ATX power supply to replace the original 188 Watt P.S. that I shorted out.

I was very pleased that it fit well.  :U

I thought I would have to get an ATX case for it to fit.

Take  care,

Andy

hutch--

I confess to still owning the 8 meg of parity memory from my first i486dx. With 20 years of accumulation I have a drawer full of historical memory simms. I still own a couple of "heritage" computers, a 1200 Celeron and a 2.8 gig Northwood PIV and I just shoved as much memory in each board as it would take.

YES it does make a difference.
