VMWARE slowness

So I was using VMWARE happily for a few months, all was great. I hadn't used it for a couple of months, then when I run it again suddenly it was slow ! And I mean slow ! Even the starting BIOS screen goes slow.

After I couldn't fix that problem (tried reinstalling etc.) I gave up with VMWARE and installed Virtual PC 2007 sp1, absolutely SLOW !!! Also I installed virtualbox, managed to kinda slowly setup XP, now it is also SLOW while loading the gues OS.

What the hell is this weirdness, I have an athlon x2 4200+ , 2gb RAM and plenty of hard disk space, wht changed all of a sudden ? Other high-performance applications, like games, work fine, so there is nothing wrong with my PC's performance.

This is a long-shot, but since the problem is consistent nd shared between all of these virtualization products, does anyone have any idea what is going on ? What is common between them ? ... that's where the problem must be.

Did you try to move your virtual machines to another hard disc? This should improve the performance.

I've thought about it, but it doesn't make sense, it is too slow ! The BIOS screen text loads slow, I can see the lines getting drawn  ....
