My father died a few hours ago, from a heart attack (his second one).  :'(

My parents were divorced when I was 10, and my brother an sister have been enstranged from him for many years (our parents fought like cat and dog).
I initiated a meeting in 2000 and saw him for the first time again, in 20 years. He and his wife then emmigrated to Ireland, and I always wanted him to see his 2 grandsons.
The word must have got around (I think this was due to his current wife - a lovely lady), and he saw his grandsons for the first time some 6 years ago.

They've made regular trips back to ZA, to see the whole family, and it's always made me happy to see the kids interact with him. His wife has said that there had been a significant change with him, and my wife said that I have changed as well. I've always stopped myself short of asking him what went wrong as I did not want to spoil these precious moments. His wife has always been worried about his health for the past 6 years and it's finally happened.

For what little time my kids have spent with him, I glad we're all able to see each other again.

RIP
