Good afternoon!

I want to archive some tools related to Windows 98 programming (for personal use only).

What tools do I need to program in assembly for Win98? Could someone name the last MASM version which runs/produces code running on this OS.
Are there any other common tools around? I.e. "Driver development kit" or smth like this.

Thanks in advance!

welcome to the forum
as far as i know, the current version of the masm32 package is capable of writing software for win98
you may want to find an older version of the DDK, if you even need it
when using API functions, be aware that some are not supported under win98
you might try and find an old version of win32.hlp - it would not have the newer API functions

MASM's Driver Kit is http://www.freewebs.com/four-f/ but thats for 2k+ drivers(.drv) for win9x/Me they're called vxd's and i'm not familiar with any kit for those, however here's a few tuts on it http://win32assembly.online.fr/tutorials.html

Version 9.0 of masm32 runs on the old win9x versions from win95b up to 98se and ME. Version 10 requires an NT based OS from win2000 upwards.
