Wow, pretty impressive.  I can't wait till they get the last bug I reported fixed so I can switch to firefox 3 to use it.

1) No one has to install it.
2) It's not written by Mozilla.

I got a little happy at first, but it's useless ... why not click the tabs ?
And it's kinda slow.

K-Meleon does everything I need.

Well except for include a nice (read: simple, robust) download manager. I'm actually thinking of writing one.

It's not slow on my machine but I can see where it might be for some.  The advantage of the little windows is everything is displayed with an image in front of you and you can click around knowing what's there visually.  I though I read there's another add-on that puts visuals on the tab or in a sidebar but I'm too lazy to look for it now.

I don't too often rotate between tabs and mostly read linearly, clicking from one tab to the next and deleting the former, but my son might get a lot of use out of it as he has open billions of tabs at once and is constantly switching between forums and articles.

Have you tried Star Downloader?

Free version supports scheduled downloads, can monitor URLs,
shutdown computer after downloading, etc.

I know he's talking about K-Meleon but that reminds me I just read, the other day, there's a Firefox extension that can monitor sections of a page and will alert you when that part updates.
