Title: Forum slow to load
Post by: drhowarddrfine on February 27, 2005, 01:22:04 AM
Sometimes I come to the home page and it's slow to load.  Sometimes it fails altogether with a "page not found".

I have the same problem with this website (http://www.stltoday.com/).  Their forums also load slow but sometimes they load right away.

I believe this site uses FreeBSD as does the linked one above.  So I'm assuming it could be a setting on IE on my computer.  Any guesses?

I think its just variable server load Doc, I am using ADSL from Australia and it is usually reasonably fast but on odd occasions it is a bit slow. The server is in Santa Clara in California and they seem to have massive bandwidth in most instances but a matching large customer base that occasionally can overload it.

I get the 'page not found' sometimes too. I use Firefox, so it's a server problem i guess.
