Title: MASM 6.11
Post by: msaba on December 17, 2005, 12:24:39 AM
Hello,

Is MASM 6.11 available free?  If yes, where?

I actually have an old (1993 ?) set of five diskettes.  The first disk is UNREADABLE!  And, I do not know if the set of 5 is a complete set.

Thanks in advance.

msaba,

That version used to be available in the Windows 98 DDK but you can't get that any more. Why use MASM 6.11 when you can get later (better) versions for free? Look here: masmforum website (http://www.website.masmforum.com/)

msaba,

The assembler V6.14 from Hutch's masm32 package ( or V6.15 ) can process 16-bit asm source codes. All what you need is the 16-bit linker :

Hi Vortex and Greg,

The reason I need 6.11 is that I am teaching an x86 course at DeVry Univ.  The lab computers, which the students use, have MASM 6.11.  I would very much like to have that version on my home computer where I prep homework, quizes, or grade the assignments.  DeVry gave me an original package, the only one they have, but disk one is unreadable.

Thank you very much for helping.

msaba,

If ypou are careful, you can copy the complete masm 611 installation onto a CD or similar and take it home with you. Its been a long time but you will have to edit the INI file for the settings when you copy it onto another machine but it may be the only method you have to get something as old as masm 611. I own masm 611d but I seriously doubt the disks are any good now and legally its still licenced software so it cannot be distributed.
