I have always had an interest in robots, and these kits remind me of the early "Heath kits" for computers.

The prices are high, even for the kits, but a few are under $1000..I can see this becoming the next big thing, with people doing at home Experimental stuff. Some of the kits are intended to be modifiable,in a roll your own fashion.
There is also a section concerning using robots in an educational context.
This one goes for over $40,000.

- A robot may not affect its profit margin or, through inaction, allow its profit margin to decrease.
- A robot must obey the orders given to it by a duly appointed representative of RobotShop, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
- A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the profit margin.
as i recall, the "3 laws" didn't work out so well for that guy :P
