Title: odd BBC puzzle
Post by: whakamaru on January 17, 2012, 12:22:32 AM
About 20 years ago, a radio program suggested that people think about the letters   "hzxois" before going to sleep and then try and dream the answer to the question "What letter completes the sequence and where does it go"
I tried, failed. And never heard any more.  I assume there is a logical answer.  Google does not help.  I think the letter is.... ascii 34 4e. Coz, (r-2) wr-ukfg fqyp ucog.  Cv vjg gpf.       (hope I've got that right!)
Like the Capchas, it takes humanness to solve?

It looks like a Schatzman/Dement puzzle, which is probably why they wanted you to sleep on it  :bg

Don't know the solution to that one but here's a couple more:

H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O - Solution is one word that the sequence describes
8, 5, 4, 9, 1, 7, 6, 3, 2 - What is the order of these numbers

No-one even guessed...

H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O = Water (H to O or H2O)
8, 5, 4, 9, 1, 7, 6, 3, 2 = Alphabetical order (English)

I think the answer is "N"
coz all of them are up-side-downable. with O in the centre suggesting a rotation that might happen in a dream.
I put the N at the end as it might match the verticalness of H at the start.
At my age... I just hope I don't wake up!!

If you start fiddling with those puzzles.. you soon will not be able to count from 1 to 10, or say your alphabet.
You'd be a vegetable spurting out pips like a fruit.
