We had a total solar eclipse on 11 August 1999. I saw the corona for a second, then a big fat cloud obscured it. Nice anyway.
The lunar eclipse tonight was, ehm, very partial. About 5% of the moon was obscured.

The thing is even if its totally cloudy when the US 2017 eclipse comes it will get nearly black out during daylight hours. That will seem strange! :eek

I hope its a bright sunny day though so I can make me up one of those cardboard lunar eclipse viewing thingies. :bg
