Title: Drive Problems
Post by: dedndave on November 09, 2011, 02:44:44 AM
a while back, Hutch mentioned he was having hard drive troubles
i had some trouble, here

these things are always a pain   :P

the problem is the pins are sometimes designed to be crimped onto unstriped wire
the crimp is supposed to pierce the insulation and make contact with the wire
that usually works ok - provided they use the correct tool and it is adjusted properly
coming from Taiwan, neither of those conditions are likely to be met   :bg

the image shows them soldered   :U

Dave,

I think I only have a couple of these left on the older machines but it was pretty much the case that they either worked or they did not, you chucked out the duds and kept the ones that worked. On my later machines the Antec power supplies have good quality fittings which don't have the problems.
