Title: Repairing Bridges Can Lift Families Out of Poverty.
Post by: Bill Cravener on October 17, 2011, 01:38:03 PM
The Republican Party can kiss my ass for not voting for the Presidents Jobs program. With some 150,000 bridges in America deemed "structurally deficient" or "functionally obsolete" by the Federal Highway Administration the president's jobs program would put many 10's of thousands back to work. I have an exceptional dislike for Republicans do to the fact that Pennsylvania is number "1" for the worst bridges in the entire United States. Phuking johnson sucking Republicans! :tdown

i am a little surprised they voted it down, actually
the republicans are usually the first ones to jump on these bloated projects
the "big dig" in boston comes to mind, which cost US taxpayers ~ 15 billion dollars
the i-35 bridge in minnesota is another one - you remember - the one that collapsed

not that i am against improving the infrastructure, mind you
but contractors usually bilk taxpayers on these projects
and - they get the contracts by paying off congressmen
a lot of dirty dealing going on

So what do we do Dave, just say phukit until our bridges collapse and people get killed? Our power grid is no better then some third world countries have it. I agree that there are abuses but whats the alternative solution? We better do something and do it quick. Here in the Shenango Valley several years ago federal monies put hundreds back to work rebuilding a local bridge and stretch of road and we experienced a small boom in my area of the country. Doing nothing is going to accomplish "nothing".

Bill,

If they stopped wasting money waging wars in shitholes around the world and pumped that money back into the US then all sorts of things might happen like people having jobs, a life and some hope. I hope the "Occupy Wall Street" movement light a fire under their arse.

Tar and feathering still sound good to me followed by raining stock brokers.  :P

As much as I do not like Obamma. I do agree that infrastructure jobs will help families. Plus will prevent tradegies on the next years when those bridges start to collapse. Is not a perfect plan, but at least is doing something.

Let the oil companies pay for their wars. And concentrate the tax money on the USA. And let the army protect our borders instead of someone else borders for a change.
