Being kinda 'new' at this thing.. for the past 19 years, having 2 sons
1) Everyday is not the same.
2) My ensuite shower, my 'private space' is invaded regularly, daily
3) I say the same things 10x+ a day
4) I pass on advice which is 'irrelevant'.. these kids 'know' everything
5) 'I mumble/drone on continiously' (this freaks me out)
6) I try to listen, but I'm told I'm too full of advice ...@$%^$%^@ geeez F.. - I'm a parent.
7) I generally know nothing about the youth of today - I was younger once !!
Then I approached my all-knowing eldest kid tonight and said.
Me - "So, you want to be a pilot... what would you do it your aircraft got into any uncontrollable situation ??"
J - "Push the stick forward and.."
Me - "NO!!!... you do no such thing - You neutralise stick and control it with the rudder, 'Zone' in front of you and 'feel' the aircraft"
Me - ".. only once you have it under control, do you use the stick and apply flaps, throttle as necessary"
Me- "You have to think and react fast, the rudders can kill you.. or save your life, be firm with them"
He actually listened to me.... I think I may have saved his life...
I hope so..
:eek
Do not worry, eventually you will get even when they have their own children :bdg
get him to play some chess with you
everytime you whoop his ass, he will be more inclined to listen to some advice :lol

Just remember the other side of the coin. "Be nice to your children, they get to pick out your nursing home!"
Dave.
My "getting even" meant that my children have learned that raising children is very hard and leads to early hair loss. :-)
I already told my kids, that if I get Alzheimers not to get too stressed about it.
Nice home would be O.K.

True, but it takes a while for a parent 'advisor' to convert to a 'listener' :bg
it only lasts til the next game :bg
