Hi,
I'm a computer engineering major at the University at Buffalo. I'm currently studying abroad outside of Paris in France. I'm taking Microprocessors here which is my first experience with assembly. I also enjoy doing ProjectEuler problems and might try to do some in assembly although I've got a ways to go before I'm that proficient I think.
Assembly doesn't seem as bad as I've always heard that it was. What I do find difficult is locating documentation and starting in general. Right now we're programming an ARM32 microcontroller with LEDs, a small LCD screen, buttons (or switches if you prefer), and a small speaker and headphone jack. We've programmed it to play the game Simon where lights flash then you must press the corresponding buttons in the correct sequence and it's quite cool going through.
I'd like to try compiled assembly on my computer although I'm not sure where to start with that. I have an intel based 64 bit macbook.
Besides programming I like to stay social, snowboard, workout, play beerpong (it is college after all), go to projecteuler, and learn new things.
I'm going to keep browsing the forums and looking around although I might not be very active this week as I have finals in Signals and Systems, Microprocessors, and Statistics and Probability. Then it is my final two weeks in France after that. I always find time to program though.
Besides Assembly I'm also looking into building my own website, LISP, and J. I always take on too much at once I suppose.
I have the most experience with Java at the moment but functional languages and aspect oriented languages are intriguing.

Anyway, you seem to have the typical assembly-programmer-humour: A new members mentions he's from Buffalo and you "greet" him by telling you only know people from there and none who went there.

p.s. I went to Junior and Senior High at Amherst, just a couple of miles east of the U.B campus. And I'm definitely "FROM" there. Headed south 3 months after graduation.
