I had a quick look at an article about the northern island in Hawaii and learnt a new word for people who go there to try out the modern version of the hippy lifestyle, TRUSTAFARIAN. Mummy and Daddy keep a trust fund for their kids who go off to live in a place like this so they can afford to live there.

I can remember reading: "The Drifters", by James Michener (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Drifters_(novel)), when I was a young man,...and, it seemed so cool (and, this was in the age before cool became cool).
Really, this is what started it all. The only reason that they didn't make it into a movie, is that Johnny Depp hadn't been born yet,...
...This is one of the great evolutionary trends of post-modern, godless, technologically-advanced societies,...too many lawyers. They created Trust Funds,...
I am mainly pissed off that I never had a chance to do it myself, my parents were of the generation where their kids had to get off their arse and do it themselves. The old man did most of his travelling before and during ww2 but my mum spent her last 20 or so years travelling anywhere she liked any time she liked so I may take that option one day. There was this blonde I used to go out with who had a very good paying job so I used to rib her a bit about setting me up in a lifestyle that I could grow accustomed to and she could never see the humour in it.
Sad thing with me was I was the "Rich" relation..never owned a house..but always made enough to cover my bills raising two kids, and getting by. Could have used a trust fund in my 20's when I was wild and mostly hustled my way through till I hit 28 and settled down with the Wife and Kids.
I guess they would have been Remittance Men.
