By the gods I am amazed that I've made it to 60. There are days I wake up from bed and ache so bad I just don't want to get out of bed and I'm an active fellow. 60 years old, so that means I've made it past my fathers age of 56 at his death and my mothers age of 60 at her death (by just a few months). You know what, I think I've got more years to go yet. :bg

Happy Birthday Bill! Statistically speaking, you have more than 20 years ahead, so in order to maintain your brain in good shape, sit down and code something nice :bg
All the best,
Jochen
:U
Happy Birthday :bg.... It is both my parents 60ths this year (I'll be in trouble if they read this :lol) I wrote a message to 2 of my brothers yesterday saying.... "4 months left what the hell are we gonna do?" :lol
Hi,
Happy birthday!
You beat me by a few months. I'm still a bit surprized I made
it into the 21st century... Assuming I really did. <g>
Cheers,
Steve N.
Many Happy Bongs!!! :lol
Happy Big Six Oh, Bill :U
hell, my parents have been married longer than that
good thing, as i am right behind ya :lol
Welcome to the hill Bill, now just jump right into this hand basket... :red
Happy half way to 120 :U
Thank you all kindly, at 60 it's most appreciated. Especially younz putting up with all my bullshit here on Steve's board over these many years. I was born May 13th 1951 on Mothers Day, I being the first born of six. It made me my mom's favorite. But every so many years my birthday lands on Friday the Thirteenth. I try to stay low and out of sight, it's safer that way. Believe me I haven't left the house allllllll day. :bg
My cheek jowls hang down a little more each year, I have a family of crows-feet living on each side of my eyes, my nose is growing exponentially, I've got hairs growing out of places that weren't there when I was a might younger. Other then all that, plus the occasional aches and pains, I feel great!! :bg
Have heard from many family and friends today and most of it was reminiscing about the past like you know the time we. . .yep, I remember, some of it I'd like to forget, but so is life.
Have to admit though, I was a cute little bugger when I was 8 years old, just can't fathom what the hell happened over these past 50 + years. Now when I look in the mirror each morning I think, ugh!!! :bg

For you guys I missed, again thanks!
60 years plus one day, I feel better, the shock of it has past. :bg
I always knew you were a young fella Bill, only just turned 60 huh ?
You just call it "seniority", tuck your guts in or run it off if you can be bothered, keep yourself fit and confound the bastards. :P
........and go down to Denny's for that low-priced "senior" breakfast and coffee :bg
Are you serious Dave? Theres a Denny's just up the road about a mile. I'm on my way! :bg
Better do it now just turning 60 and all, this fellow in the link below says the end is here come May 21st. I'm screwed, not even going to get to enjoy all those senior entitlements, damn!! :(
I'm Screwed!! (http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-preacher-warns-end-of-the-world-is-nigh-21-may-around-6pm-to-be-precise-2254139.html)
according to some theories, we have until dec 21, 2012 - lol
plenty of time for that cheap breakfast !!!
i like this quote from the article you sited :P
QuoteMr Camping's argument has convinced Adam Larsen, 32, from Kansas.
He is among scores of "ambassadors" who have quit their jobs to drive
around America in Family Radio vehicles warning of the impending
apocalypse. "My favourite pastime is raccoon hunting," Mr Larsen told
CNN. "I've had to give that up. But this task is far more important."
these are the guys i am talking about when i mention "redneck bible-thumpers that vote straight republican"
raccoon hunting :lol
Rednecks, I know what you mean, we have plenty of that breed here in PA too. Them and their coon-dogs barking. We elected a Republican governor this time around by the way.
Governor Tom Corbett will undergo back surgery for treatment of spinal stenosis on Monday morning May 16th at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, where by the way, I was born.
I have no opinion of the guy other then you know he has great medical coverage paid for by the state taxpayer. I did not vote for him, seems low keyed though and you hear very little about him on local news. He hasn't made any noticeable waves yet.
Bill,
I meat to ask you, have you had any offers from companies exploring for gas on your property ? I have recently seen a documentary on hydraulic fracturing to get gas out of the ground and I think PA is one of the areas they are exploring. Seems they really make a mess of the area they fracture, all sorts of shit comes up through the water table and make the water undrinkable.
Steve,
I own but a quarter acre of land and it's on the outer edge of the city, they'll be no drilling here. :bg As to the Marcellus Shale I'm sure there's gas deep down under me but the city wouldn't allow drilling. There are two huge 70 something year old maple trees that take up most of my acreage. Both trees have seen their day and are nearing the end but they shade the house on those hot summer days and I haven't the heart to have them cut down (at least not yet). There are some cases of water contamination from drilling for gas but there are many big farm land owners who will profit immensely and money will always trump pollution.
