Title: mechanics
Post by: shankle on March 23, 2011, 09:25:37 PM
You won't believe this.
1999 Camry.
Wife: the heater and the A/C are making noises.
Wants to take it to the shop for a $200+ bill.
I have no mechanics manual for the car. So I went up on the internet
and searched for a "HOW To". I found one and even with that help
it took an hour to remove the plastic and glove box from the car.
Guess what I  found... :bg  The Heater A/c blower assembly has a round
louvered cage to move the air in the car. It was full of some paper, leaves,
orange yarn and white yarn. When the cage spun centrifugal force put
all this junk to the outside of the cage and caused noises and cut air flow way down.
Speculation of how it got in there is anybody's guess.
Total Cost, an aching back from trying to stand on my head and aggravation.
However it is Fixed.

The Heater A/c blower assembly has a round...

Not a big deal for an assembly programmer...

True JJ.
But for an old man my contortionist days are over :bg
I think the garbage was put in there by a mouse.
Question is, how did it get inside the car. The blower is
inside the firewall behind the glove box. The vent for fresh
air is never opened.

hiya Jack
my advice is...
blame the squirrel, even a rat, for putting the yarn in there
don't blame the wife   :P
if you do, not only will you be sore from contortion, but you will have a wife in a bad mood
better to blame a squirrel - at least she'll be happy   :bg
