Title: What are you doing Hutch to anger the Gods?
Post by: shankle on February 04, 2011, 02:23:43 AM
On top of the bad Floods I hear there is a bad Hurricane.
Are you in it's  path? Have you ever been in a hurricane?

Assume everything won't work.
Get gas for generator. Use milk cartons for drinking water.
Fill up the swimming pool or bath tub.
Or get in tub if house blows off the foundation.
Shutters for windows.
Have a big party......

Thanks Jack but I am fine, Sydney is over 1500 miles south and is not in the cyclone belt. Northern OZ in in the tropics and it gets the yearly monsoon rain plus the South Pacific oscillation (El Nino - La Nina) and cyclones as well.

You may like this, the Tibetan plateau in summer heats up and pulls the monsoons north so India gets the rain, in summer down here the inland of OZ heats up and pulls it back down to Indonesia and northern OZ.

Now to make it really complicated, in the winter time we get snow down south that we should not get at these latitudes because of big currents in the Great Southern Ocean which effects much of southern OZ's weather patterns.

Hi Hutch,
Glad to hear that you are going to miss all the fun.
Even worse than the hurricanes are the tornadoes they generate.
These here in Florida come in the middle of the
night when you can't see them coming.

Gas appliances pretty much always keep working, unless they don't have a pilot light and the power is out.

Having camping stuff around is real handy.

Party sounds good any time.

Outta here,
