Title: Info on Ccleaner
Post by: shankle on November 12, 2010, 02:51:07 PM
Been using Ccleaner for years.
Today I got a surprise when I tried to update to a newer version.
I couldn't get past the Google web browser. You either install it or you don't get Ccleaner.

There is a way around it. A slim version of Ccleaner can be downloaded at:
xxx.piriform.com/ccleaner.builds
www

Always something......

Hi shankle,

Did you try to get the new version of the tool using a test computer?

Hi Vortex,
No, on my regular computer.
Couldn't get both check marks out at the same time.
It works now. Maybe they fixed it.
Anyway the slim version works and is probably better than the other.

Jack
i just d/l'ed and installed version 3.00.1310 from filehippo
http://filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/
when it installed, there was a box to uncheck for the google toolbar
i did not see one for a google browser (i guess that would be chrome), nor did it install one
even so - if it did install google toolbar, you should be able to remove it in Add-Remove Programs without affecting cCleaner
