Post by: Antariy on November 01, 2010, 12:52:42 AM
Hi.

Somebody know - have the forum software the options for daylight saving settings? If have, where it is located?
Just there is NO daylight saving switching, but forum do it.

Probably, England do that, too. Because (couple days ago) I have shifted time by -1 clock smaller than it is there. Of course, forum software knows better, which is time at my location  :green2, but I asks for setting, which can turn that useful feature off  :bg

yes - under "Look and Layout Preferences"
the forum appears to be on UK time (where the server is)
most of the UK has DST

I used this setting, of course. But it is set the "shifting time". 3 days ago I used 4 hours for that, now I must reset that to 5 hours. Not very convenient. Must me setting which is used Windows setting, or lets to user select that and have no inconveniences.

you have to take care of it
that way, they don't have to keep up with who has DST and when it changes
they give you forum time, and you have to make your own correction
i had to change mine from -8 to -7

Well, software *MUST* serve to the user, not reversingly. It must know about timesettings, or, at least - it must provide settings to say - is used DST *at your location*, and when "change the clock". To do that automatically further.

Yes, the forum software does have settings for the server.  In the version of SMF I use, there are a few settings for the time zone that I can set for the server.. I know Hutch uses an older version but this one should have em too...

Thank you! One more thing to do - change that settings, but this thing is not so simple for *not-Hutch* (i.e. - for members) :bg

if you can't keep your forum time set, you are probably in the wrong forum - lol
if that is hard - assembly language will be way over your head
