I think I found out why the hard drive on my mother's computer is overheating.
Despite putting a fan right above the hard drive and leaving a plastic door open to allow more air in, it still overheated.
When I aimed an external desk fan at that opening, then the overheated stopped.
Unlike my "Dumpster Special" which has vents in the side, the HP has no vent holes.
What if I install a fan on one side with it blowing the air out with a an easy to clean filter?
Hi,
Sounds okay. But if blowing out, the rest of the computer
will act as the filter. What kind of fan is in there now? And
is it clean and working properly? Oh, and if it also blows out,
the two will be fighting each other just a teensy bit.

It has a 2 fans - for the CPU and the power supply.
I forgot to write that I will add a vent or take off the plastic door and use it for air intake.
