Title: Unusual problem with video card
Post by: Magnum on September 15, 2010, 10:07:29 PM
I installed a new video card.

But it has an unusual quirk.

When I boot up, I don't see the BIOS routine anymore.

That's not that big a deal, but I occasionally want to boot into Safe Mode.

The only workaround is to plug my monitor back into the original card,
but that seems kind of dumb.

Any ideas ?

I'm guessing your motherboard has built-in VGA and is booting with that; it's not until Windows starts using the 'other' graphics card that you see anything. So, try disabling the on-board VGA (if you can find the BIOS setting.)
Alternatively, there used to be a setting to say which device/slot to boot with.
