Title: Iron browser
Post by: Magnum on August 19, 2010, 02:56:31 AM
I am evaluating this browser and so far I am impressed.

Less memory usage and faster than Firefox.

QuoteCan't i just use an precompiled unchanged Chromium-Build from the  Google Server?

This is not useful because the original Chromium-Builds have nearly the same functions inside than the original Chrome. We can only provide Iron because we massively modified the source.

oops ! - lol
they may not be around long

There is also a portable version :

It's always nice to have a portable version of an application.

Had to go back to FF.

Iron had a problem remembering usernames and passwords.

Had 3 crashes in 2 days.
Not a good sign.  :dazzled:

Does not work with the runas utility (same issue has Chrome) - displays empty pages, even Plugins page is blank for me (xp sp3). Filemon and Regmon does not show single "denied" entry.
I have separate, low privileged user account for IE, and IE is working correctly under this account.
When reporting my issue from browser menu, the server is responding "internal error", so I think this browser will be only a toy.
