Title: NEED HELP with HLA installation on Win 98 SE
Post by: Sultan on December 23, 2004, 05:19:29 AM
I ´m really got tired trying to get my HLA already installed on my machine ( Win 98 SE ) and simply can not do anything yet.

Got a fatal error on MASM and can not openn the Link.exe when I try the example of HelloWorld that comes with HLA instructions.

I did exactly what the instructions sets and still nothing !

MAy anybody let me know the right way to get HLA installation in good shape ?

Thanks in advance for your kind of attentions.

That´s what I get after try every step of the HLA Instructions file.

When I set C:\>hla> hla hw.hla

The results are always:

Could not open hw.hla
Assembling: hw.asm
MASM : fatal error A1000: cannot open file : hw.asm
Could not open file 'hw.link'  for linking

May you tell me how to get my HLA up and running ?

I have Win 98 SE in a Compaq Armada M700 with a PIII of 700 Mhz in.

Thanks in advance for your kind of attentions.

Kinda sounds like you don't have the HLA directory(ies) in your PATH environment variable.

I don´t think so 00100b:

I have everything setlled in.

I already modify the autoexec.bat with all Path recomendations and still nothing.

I´m also create a new .bat into HLA directory named ihla.bat, with parameters for 32 bits like %path%  I tryied everything and simply cero.

The only reason this error comes up is if the target file (hw.hla) is not there.

Whrere do it have to be ?

I create a  sub-directory folder inside C:\hla that I called projects and so on another sub directory folder that I named hw.
As the manner of fact that stands like C:\hla\projets\hw

Now I have another question:
Do I have to put MASM32 and HLA alltogether?
By the way I have one directory for each, I mean:
C:\masm32v8
and
C:\hla
By tyhe way I did it that form, following the instructions of Installing and Running HLA Under Windows.
