Title: New HTM page on installing masm32 securing the development computer
Post by: hutch-- on October 22, 2009, 03:17:45 AM
I have added this page to the main download page for masm32 to help out some of our friends that have had problems configuring their computer to run masm32.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Really help if I added the link.  :bg

Hello,

Actually looks and reads quite well.  At home I'll look at it with
some older browsers to see if they hiccup.  Just for jollies you could
mention what SDK means.  ;-)

Regards,

If you are only asking about content, well done, ignore the rest of this post.

Looks good, other than my usual problem (I must be the only one in the world that can't read light gray on dark gray text. On top of that, the text seems a bit small. After struggling through about a fourth of it I had to extract the page and drop it in an editor to read).

The following spelling errors are based upon U.S. spelling, English/Aussie spelling may be different:

targetted  s.b. targeted

Admintrative s.b. Administrative

istallation  s.b. installation

tunnelling   perhaps should be tunneling

the internet is usually capitalized

There are double spaces in the lines containing-

security software downloaded  from the internet

Unless you know exactly what you are doing with the firewall in  late versions

access to the "download" directory  and normal

In the following, "write" should be "writes"

(2) The MASM32 SDK is registry safe and write nothing to the registry

In the following, "you" should be "your" I think.  Or rephrase.

no matter what you install and setup may happen to be

Something to consider:  Only us real old-timers use "directory" any more, it is usually referred to as "folder".  I think a directory is the listing of the contents of a folder, not the actual contents.

Thanks Jim, when I have fully woken up I will tidy it up.

LATER : I have done a set of tweaks, fixed what Jim suggested and even ran the spell checker through it so it should be OK. Mainly what I was after was whether the information was clear and made sense.
