Then use Firefox or Chrome (http://lifehacker.com/5118454/firefox-and-chrome-run-gmail-twice-as-fast-as-ie-says-google).
QuoteGoogle has taken a more aggressive approach to moving users away from Internet Explorer, recommending that Gmail users install Firefox or Chrome if they want to see Gmail run "an average of twice as fast."
Ok, so lets see some real-world benchmark results then Google.
On a typical consumer PC, which is clogged full of spyware and junk, BOTH are going to run slow and buggy.
BTW, "Chrome" isn't a very good name for a browser. Chromium is a hard metallic element, usually thinly electroplated over copper for aesthetic lustre. (Read: it's glitzy boiler-plate... literally.) Seriously though, I wouldn't be in a rush to switch to Chrome. Sounds like Google has a vested interest in integrating their content (the internet ala carté) into your PC -- and that is scary on so many levels.

What does "optimized for Google" mean?
• Google homepage you can personalize
• Google Toolbar
• Google as your search engine

If it's what optimized mean, then what Google have to said about browsers has no relevance. It is market competition and nothing more.
And even more bullshits on Google is the link below. It is said that, with no scanning (because I have IE7)...

We noticed that your current browser, Internet Explorer 6, is out of date. In order to improve your Gmail experience, we suggest that you upgrade your browser to a faster Gmail supported browser that works on Windows.
And they ask to upgrade to IE7

Pure dishonesty.
Reminds me of "Non-Critical Error has occured" - or something in that regard... :green2
