new monitors/old computers

No problem (sort of)  just stating a fact.
I thought I could move a Dell 19" flat panel monitor to a Dell Optiplex GX1 (6 year old
computer). No such luck. The cable is totally different. So when the old computer
goes a working monitor also goes. Great for Dell and sales or whomever.
This just another reason why you are forced to upgrade besides the OS game.
Looks like a Detroit scheme to me where planned obsolescence is built in.
Do I sound cynical, heaven forbid..

Is it just dvi (white rectangle), or truly messed up? Check the monitor for a vga connection -- you can easily get a vga-to-vga cable (mine has both.)
