 :boohoo:

This is for the moderator but everyone can give his opinion.

Could it be possible to have a zip or a cd on which we could find all the messages and their answers ?

For each forum ?

Good night

You already have a fully searchable database at your fingertips: just use that little search box to the top left on all the pages. Also don't forget that you can search the old forum, the link to it is up in the top right corner of each page.  :8)

I am OK if you always are connected but sometimes it could be easy to view all items offline.

And if a forum is down how can I do ?

Thanks
Kenavo

Take a look, I think this is what you need.

You only have 3 levels. I am testing to see I can have all the 18 pages of the campus forum

Thanks

There are commercial programs available, that allow you to download complete websites.
But their names escape me at the moment. Maybe the use of one of these and a cd burner would do the trick

You might try httrack for downloading the website. I can't say I have used it (don't use or support GPL software) but one of my co-workers says it's pretty good.

it wouldn't really be an option to use httrack because for every post
there would be the same images and they are redundant and they would be downloaded over
and over again.but that's not all
the server admin could make if he wanted (as RCE also has) a script so that at some time a
snaspshot of the forum could be made wich would be very nice indeed.
and pack it up in .chm format or .pdf format
that would be very useful

There are two things against the idea, the postings are protected content so that no-one can repackage them, the other is that the complete forum bundled in any of the suggested forms would be truly massive and by having multiple images depending on when the image was taken, I would not be in a position to host them on any of the servers I have access at.

consider taking out all of the images(thats what RCE's archive looks like)

For reasons that I have already told you this request will never see the light of day. Image data is almost non-existent in this forum and as I have to back up the database on a regular basis, I do in fact know how big it is. Even if the request was viable, the issue of copyright of the postings excludes the idea.

Trouble is, some of the posts are just disappearing.  For instance http://www.masmforum.com/simple/index.php?topic=1991.0, where a former participant called MANT gives a departure announcement, and lists reasons why he leaving low level coding and going to high level languages.  Very interesting read, but not available any more.  Ratch

I got tired of the "Ghost of Christmas past" making its comback every so often so I retired it as this forum is not run for people who wish to take potshots at assembler programming. They are more than welcome to host their own web site if they feel so disposed and need to criticise assembler programming.
