Hi,
I have made an installer for RadASM and a torrent of the same.

Do check if it works (the torrent, that is  :bg).

Also, feedback and suggestions about the installer are welcome!  :bg

(Please note: If my machine restarts (not likely very soon) the torrent _WILL_ be effectively dead, as the IP of my machine would change. (This is what the "making a torrent" guide said, atleast!  :P :P )

Cheers and Merry Christmas,
Shantanu Gadgil

Can you give me a hint? There is a file in the zip, but what to do with it? It is probable that I need something to make it work.

Thanks in advance.

Yes,
The zip file contains a "torrent" file, kinda a metadata file. To actually download anything using bittorrent (the name of the protocol) one would need a "bit-torrent client" (I would suggest uTorrent http://www.utorrent.com Its extreeeeeeeeeeemly efficient)

You plop the .torrent file in the bit-torrent client and then the actual downloading will start. There could be issues if one is behind a router, a firewall, etc.

BitTorrent is mostly used for trading warez nowa-days, though as Shantanu said, it is an extremely efficient p2p protocol. I would recommend it for anyone wanting to mass distribute something of significant size. For those of you who prefer java-based technology, i would recomend Azureus, which is free and open source, though i use uTorrent myself. The protocol itself also supports encryption (RC4 to be precise, Paul :)) which can prevent bandwith shaping by ba**ard ISPs.

Hi all,
Anyone downloaded the installer? Tried it? Any feedback?

If the torrent which I had uploaded earlier is not working, you could also get it from mininova.org
http://www.mininova.org/tor/526198

Same procedure as before; "start" the torrent file with your bit-torrent client and it should give you a file "radasm_v2210.zip"

Hi, Shantanu
It took me 10 times usual RadAsm download time (no wonder you were the only seeder  :lol ). I guess torrent system is dedicated only for those files that are complicate to fit into small web storage place (also pirated stuff)... However, installer is far better idea (works OK).

Updated installer to RadASM v2.2.1.1

Get it at: http://www.mininova.org/tor/601566

Note: Same as before, if my machine restarts, its IP changes and the torrent is effectively dead.
By tomorrow, if the machine has restarted, I will set it for reseeding properly again.

Cheers,
Shantanu
