What are you expecting it to output? The only output statement in the code is:

print "-- finished --"

That the code runs without generating an exception is just a matter of luck, because your loop still contains two major errors.

And since you keep insisting on doing this, why this particular code? It would be easier for you to solve the problems and increase your coding knowledge if you were working with smaller, simpler code.
