global keyboard hooks

can somebody tell me how to write a global keyboard hook?  I looked at Icezelon's hook tutorial and tried to redesign the source code for a mouse hook to a keyboard hook using the win32 reference files, but it never worked.  if you don't feel like showing, then please post a tutorial site for one.
