Jack-

Hello,
I'm doing a degree in computing science, in my course so far we only did one modual on assembler in first year which was just kind of an intro.
The funny thing is i found assembler easier to pick up than java (which i was also learning for the first time) since then i've become ok at java and vb.net but i want to learn more assembler and be able to create win32 apps with it.

So where should I start ?
If anyone out there has any good books/guides i should get let me know.
And i'm also looking for any ideas for what kind of apps i should try and create starting out.
What i did in college was just do some calculations and some loops.
What should i use to code in, i was using notepad before is there anything better?

I'd also like to know if you can get a qualification or certification in assembler like with java as i think that would look really good on my cv aswell.

Jack,

I would suggest you have a tryout of the MASM32 project as it is a good starting point for writing modern 32 bit assembler. You need additional reference material like the manuals from Intel and some API reference from Microsoft, links for both are on the forum web site in the top right corner of the forum.

dowload the latest image of MASM32 and mae sure you install it in the MASM32 directory straight off the root directory of the partition you choose. Members here will help you out with bits and pieces you need.
